Palestinian Supply Ministry: Re-examine Economic agreements with Israel

Economic agreements with Israel should be re-examined; that is the finding of a study on goods that reach the Palestinian Authority from Israel, by the Palestinian Supply Ministry.

The research examined what it described as the “Israeli aggressiveness towards goods on their way to cities in the homeland.”

These results were published yesterday in the Palestinian daily newspaper Al-Hayyat Al-Jadida.

The ministry declared that the possibility of substituting Israeli goods with local, Arab and international goods should be examined. There should be greater focus on expanding storage space for staple products, according to the report.

The study suggested that the storage capacity of staple products has decreased in Palestinian institutions and factories as a result of the Israeli siege policy, as well as demands of Israeli suppliers that Palestinian merchants pay for the goods on the spot and in cash. The study said the devaluation of the Israeli shekel against the dollar has caused prices to rise, since most Palestinians receive their salary in shekels.
