A pro-withdrawal cross-country campaign rally kicked off on Monday, and will end in Jerusalem in two weeks’ time.
The campaign, under the title ‘Blue and White Journey – Out of Gaza, Back to Zionism,’ is headed by former head of Israel’s General Security Service (Shin Bet) Ami Ayalon, and Chairman of the Council for Peace and Security Danny Rothschild.
Over the next two weeks, a motorcade, including one bus, will drive through Israel’s communities from north to south, where it will organize press conferences and other explanatory events. The motorcade includes businessmen, public figures, and youth movements.
“The support of the withdrawal plan and the Gaza evacuation is critical,” said the organizers. “The journey… will pose the proper counterbalance for the aggressive campaign run by those who oppose the withdrawal.”
Among the aims set by the organizers, is the creation of a supportive public atmosphere for the withdrawal plan. Current public opinion polls suggest that just over half the population supports the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
