The Qatari daily Al-Watan published a cartoon depicting Israel as the perpetrator of the 9/11 attacks, following the Israeli Defense forces [IDF] demolition of three residential buildings in Gaza on Sunday.
The cartoon likened the three residential buildings to the World Trade Center. As a Star of David slashes through the buildings, the Arab says, “Now we know who perpetrated the September 11th attacks.”

Israel demolished the buildings which they said were used as observation points to monitor traffic and operations in Israeli communities and military bases in the Gaza Strip. The IDF said an attack on Friday, in which three IDF soldiers were killed, including two women, was planned in these houses.
The IDF surrounded the neighborhood on Saturday and ordered around 2,000 of the buildings’ residents to evacuate their homes before bombing the area.
A nearby police station was also bombed. The IDF claimed it was also used to assist terrorists, that an Islamic Jihad terrorist sought safe haven in the station, and that the Palestinian policemen helped him flee to another region of Gaza.
Palestinian officials strongly condemned the bombings and called for international intervention to stop the “Israeli aggression.”
