Qurei’ One Step Closer to Palestinian Premiership

Yassir Arafat’s Fatah movement has approved the appointment of the new Palestinian cabinet to be headed by Ahmad Qurei’.

It is the first stage in a series of votes before Qurei’ can officially take office.

He will replace Mahmoud ‘Abbas as Palestinian premier. ‘Abbas resigned after a series of disagreements with Arafat that made it virtually impossible for him to do his job.

So far Qurei’ has kept any disagreements with Arafat behind closed doors.
