Reports Suggest Iran May be Taking U.S. Threats Seriously

Two reported developments suggest Iran apparently takes Washington’s threats seriously.

The Revolutionary Guard [R.G.] forces of Iran have stopped giving a glider course to operatives of Hizbullah and Islamic Jihad, before the end of the course. The 30 men were sent back to Lebanon, said a source in the R.G. to the daily A-Sharq Al-Awsat.

“We have already instructed over 100 officers from Hizbullah and 20 warriors from Islamic Jihad, in using non-motorized gliders for suicide attacks on Israel. We have also sent parts of gliders to Lebanon where R.G. technicians put them back together,” added the source.

The second development in Lebanon is the gathering and hiding of heavy weapons in the past few weeks by R.G. operatives, including “R’ad” and “Shahin” mortars and middle range canons sent to Hizbullah from Iran. Those weapons where hidden in underground hangars in the Beqa’ valley in south Lebanon, as reported by A-Sharq Al-Awsat.

Washington has accused Iran in the past few weeks of harboring Al-Qa’ida members and pursuing an aggressive nuclear program, plus assisting terror organizations in Lebanon.

In response to those accusations and recent developments, spiritual leader of Iran Ayatollah ‘Ali Khamanei said yesterday: “America is not satisfied by anything other than [forcing] the nation and [its] officials to give up national power and the preferred values of the nation. Thus, those who are intimidated retreat step by step and give in to all enemy demands.”
