Israel’s Attorney-General Elyakim Rubinstein has reportedly told the country’s Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that he must refrain from using the word ‘occupied’ when referring to the West Bank and Gaza.
Government-elected personnel and officials must call Judea, Samaria and Gaza the disputed territories, according to Rubinstein.

On Monday, Sharon used the word ‘occupied’ during a speech to his party’s members of Knesset, Israel’s parliament.
The remark has caused uproar throughout the country, with Sharon seemingly breaking a taboo.
In a speech in Haifa last night, Sharon explained he was only referring to the fact that Israel has effective control over 3.5 million Palestinians in the disputed territories.
