IDF Staff Sergeant Erez Ashkenazi was killed on Friday morning as his unit was acting on an intelligence tip to prevent a terror attack at the Karni-Netzarim crossing separating Israel from the Gaza Strip. Troops killed three armed Palestinians during the operation.
