Syria Discusses Arab media conference

Syria’s Information Minister Mahdi Dakhllah and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Arab Journalists Union discussed Monday the possibility of holding an “Arab information conference in Libya or any place else, in support of Syria and Arab national issues,” reports the Arab news portal Elaph.

The aim of the conference, said the meeting’s participants, would be “to intensify Arab media informational activity, and to concentrate on the [Pan-Arab] national identity.”

Isolated and pressured by the West, Syria is trying to mobilize the support of the Arab world. Earlier this week, the Arab Bar Association held a conference in Damascus. During the conference, Syrian President Bashar Al-Asad underlined his commitment to the reform program on all levels, describing Syria’s 10th five-year plan as “an ambitious plan for economic, financial, monetary and administrative reform, which aims at developing services and improving the living conditions of the citizens.”
