Target Africa

Nairobi, Dar As-Salam, Djerba, Mombasa. Northern and north-eastern Africa are becoming breeding grounds for Muslim extremism and terrorism.

The West seemingly ignores Africa when it refers to its war on terror.

Three terrorists are currently being held in a Paris jail, accused of attempting to carry out a terror attack in the French capital. They originated in Algeria and Morocco.

Israel is currently advising its citizens not to travel to Ethiopia and Djibouti and has issued a similar warning concerning South Africa. These are in addition to the obvious travel advisory regarding Kenya.

Interestingly, most of the “action”, for want of a better word, is currently taking place in the north-east of the continent – just across the sea from terrorist hotbeds in the Arab world, such as Yemen.

While most of the terrorism seems to be coordinated from the Middle East, many of the terrorists are recruited in, or volunteer from, Africa.

Only this weekend, British police charged four North African men with terrorism, after they found samples of the deadly poison ricin in an apartment in London.

Perhaps Western governments should consider focusing more on the African continent as the threat of terrorism continues to spread around the world.
