Three arrested in Sudan for instructing terrorists to attack Israel and Iraq

The War on Terror has reached Sudan. On Wednesday, a court in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum convicted a Syrian engineer and two Sudanese nationals for training terrorists to perpetrate attacks in Iraq, Eritrea, Sudan and Israel. They were sentenced to between five and six months in prison, according to the London based daily Al-Hayyat.

The court accused the Syrian, the name of whom was not revealed, of instructing four Saudis to carry out attacks against Iraqi targets. The engineer denied the allegations, claiming that he was training the Saudis as part of an electricians’ course.

One of the two Sudanese suspects was accused of training terrorists of foreign nationalities – including Palestinian — to carry out attacks in Sudan and Israel. The court ruled that ‘Abd A-Na’sir Yousuf ‘Abd A-Rahman cooperated with foreign elements, including the Syrian engineer, in instructing the terrorists.

The second Sudanese detainee, Jamal Hibu Ibrahim, was accused of providing an Eritrean of Sudanese nationality with maps and sketches of various locations in Eritrea, including the house of President Asayas Afrouqi.
