Two New Oil Fields in Egypt

Two new oil fields have been discovered in Egypt, the country’s Petroleum Ministry confirmed on Monday.

The fields, in the Suez Gulf area and in the Western Desert, contain an estimated 16 million barrels of oil combined, and can provide 10,000 barrels of oil per day.

Egypt currently produces an estimated 700,000 barrels of oil per day.

The fields was dicovered by Jabco Company and Agiba Petroleum Company.

The Agiba find in the Imtiyaz region in the Western Desert is the second discovery of crude oil in the region since 1985.

The two discoveries are part of continuous efforts of Egypt’s petroleum industry to explore new resources of crude oil and increase the country’s exisiting production, the Egyptian Al-Ahram reported.
