U.S., Israeli Firms Develop Wireless Polygraph

A joint venture between the American company Whizsoft and the Israeli firm Atlas is developing a wireless polygraph, which will be able to identify if a person is telling the truth or lying, according to the Israeli daily Haaretz.

The project has received a grant of $750,000 from the U.S. Homeland Security Office, and is expected to develop a prototype within 16 months.

Initially, the finished product can be placed in a chair during interrogation without the suspect being aware of the device, the article suggests. However, the manufacturers say they object on moral grounds to such use of the system.

According to the developers, it will also be possible to use it in the anti-terror battle in places like airports, by placing sensor mats to test the answers of passengers during questioning.

According to Gideon Miller, who is an adviser to the project, the uniqueness of this project is the ability to process the information in real time and the ability of the sensors to evaluate from a distance the condition of the person interrogated.
