U.S. Troops Close in on Al-Qa’ida Cells

American forces bombed a house in an air raid on the Iraqi town Fallouja this week, killing at least 20 people. The U.S. claims those killed were foreign fighters, according to news reports.

Military officials said the attack targeted a safe house which was being used by fundamentalists affiliated with Abu Mu’s’ab A-Zarqawi.

Iraqis said four Fallouja residents were killed in the attacks.

Allied forces are currently on the hunt for armed men, and especially Abu Mu’s’ab A-Zarqawi who is said to be an aide of Al-Qa’ida leader Osama Bin Laden. A-Zarqawi released a tape to an Islamist website this week threatening to kill the Iraqi prime minister and prevent the transfer of sovereignty to Iraq, expected at the end of the month.

A-Zarqawi denied assumptions that he is in Fallouja but confirmed he is in Iraq.

He has been implicated for the killings of Nicholas Berg and South Korean Kim Sun-Il, as well as assisting in numerous bloody bombings.
