Homes Destroyed and Five Hospitals Closed in Taiz

Local Sources said that more than 2000 houses were completely destroyed, while 5 hospitals closed down in the Yemeni province of Taiz as a result of the war.

A source working for one of the relief agencies said,” More than 2000 homes have been demolished, we couldn’t count them all, the damage which has been done to the city is indescribable.”

A colleague of his added,” Taiz was burnt down due to random shelling by Houthi militants and forces loyal to Ali Abdullah Saleh in addition to the raids launched by the Saudi-led coalition which also hit residential areas.”

Only 4 Hospitals are operating in Taiz, “there are thousands of injured people who are suffering due to the closure of 5 hospitals, the remaining 4 are overloaded and lack medicines and basic supplies to help the wounded,” said one of the nurses in Taiz.

The province of Taiz has been a battle ground for violent fighting between the Popular Resistance backed by the coalition and Houthi militants backed by ex-President Ali Abdulla Saleh since April.
