Funeral services will be held on Thursday for the five victims of a crash that involved a bus carrying children returning from a youth group trip, a van and a private car carrying a family of five. Nearly 50 people were injured in the crash that took place on Wednesday afternoon in Israel’s northern Galilee.

Moran Ben-Eli, 35, and her three children ages 15, 11 and 5, of the northern town of Ma’alot-Tarshiha were killed after the bus hit the van and the van hit the car. Reuven Ben-Eli, the father of the family, remains in serious condition in the hospital. Bus driver Asher Basson, 76, a great-grandfather from Kiryat Yam, also was killed in the accident. The bus, which reportedly swerved from its lane, flipped on to its side.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, upon arrival in Israel from the United States on Wednesday evening said in a statement that he “sends condolences and a warm embrace to the families of those killed during this difficult time,” and urged Israelis to be very careful when driving on the roads.
