In a targeted operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a drone strike that resulted in the death of Maytham Mustafa al-Attar, a prominent figure within Hezbollah’s air defense unit, in northeastern Lebanon on Saturday. The IDF described al-Attar as a significant asset to Hezbollah, deeply involved in planning and executing operations against Israel.

According to military sources, al-Attar was struck by a missile while driving near Shaat, a town in the Hezbollah-dominated Baalbek district, approximately 100 kilometers from the Israeli border. His death is viewed by the IDF as a critical setback to Hezbollah’s capabilities, particularly in air defense.
Al-Attar, who had reportedly acquired his expertise during visits to Iran, played a pivotal role in facilitating the acquisition of Iranian weapons for Hezbollah. His involvement had elevated him to a key position within the terror organization’s ranks.
