The seemingly unending carnage in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo continued into Saturday night with monitoring organizations reporting at least 25 more killed by the Assad regime forces during the day. The large death toll was again product of an aerial bombing using barrels filled with TNT that are dropped from planes or helicopters onto civilian areas. The makeshift weapon — its use has been condemned by human rights organizations – is responsible for hundreds of deaths over the past few weeks. Observers believe the regime troops continue to make slow progress in reclaiming territory lost to the rebels in both the Aleppo and Damascus regions. The death-toll in Syria’s civil war, now almost 3-years old, is more than 126,000.
