The European Union has granted $4 million to 2Circular, a project managed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). This initiative aims to stimulate Lebanon’s green and circular economy, an economic model aimed at reducing waste and maximizing resource use through recycling and reuse.
According to a UNIDO statement released Friday, the project intends to collaborate with over 50 food and beverage firms in Lebanon, thus promoting resource-efficient and circular production practices.
As part of the initiative, 10 companies demonstrating resource efficiency and embracing the circular economy will receive a total of €280,000 (approximately $303,000) in in-kind grants.
The 2Circular project was launched in association with the Lebanese ministries of industry, economy and trade, environment, and finance. Key partners also include the Association of Lebanese Industrialists and the Federation of the Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture.
