Two cease-fires in a day failed to prevent at least 14 Palestinians from being killed in factional fighting in Gaza. Some gun battles took place in hospitals in Gaza City and Beit Hanoun leaving several dead and many wounded. Women and children were among the casualties. The armed wings of Fatah and Hamas have, if anything, increased their activities in the last few days, calling their fighters to the streets. Palestinian 17-year-old students are meant to sit their final high-school exams on Tuesday, but it is feared the process will be disrupted by the warfare.
