Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, meanwhile, met with Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld, Defense Minister Giancarlo Loffredo, and Interior Minister John Reimberg. During the meeting, the two sides discussed regional threats and the deepening of bilateral ties, particularly in technology, defense, and counterterrorism.
Sa’ar first announced Ecuador’s intention to open the Jerusalem office in March, following a phone call with Sommerfeld. The new center further expands the number of countries with diplomatic offices in Jerusalem, joining the US, Guatemala, Honduras, Kosovo, Papua New Guinea, and Paraguay. Fiji is also expected to relocate its embassy.
