Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif has been called on the carpet for suggesting to German television that Iran could consider recognizing Israel “once the Palestinian problem has been solved.” A state-run Mehr news agency reported on Tuesday that Zarif will be questioned by Iranian lawmakers upset over his “unauthorized” comments. Mehr quoted parliamentarian Ghasem Jafari as saying that Zarif's statement was "inconsistent with the principles upheld by the system" and that Zarif was not authorized to comment about the "Zionist regime."
