Latest ISIS Massacre: 700 Members of Syrian Al-Sheitaat Tribe Slain

At least 700 members of the Syrian Al-Sheitaat tribe in Deir Al-Zour Province became the latest victims of the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) over the weekend, many having been beheaded according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The tribe, which numbers about 70,000, has been fighting ISIS over control of two oil fields. In a YouTube video, the head of the Al-Sheitaat tribe called on other tribes to come to the aid of his group because “it will be their turn next.” On Saturday, the US military conducted raids against ISIS positions in Iraq near the Kurdish capital of Irbil. According to the US command, the only damage inflicted by American forces in nine air strikes conducted so far is the destruction of four armored personnel carriers, seven armed vehicles, two Humvees and an armored vehicle.” The American support came as Kurdish fighters sought to re-claim a dam captured by ISIS forces. While the US contributed the destruction of 13 vehicles to the effort to stem the ISIS rampage and massacres, Britain’s contribution was surveillance flights “so we will have a better picture of the humanitarian needs there,” according to the British defense minister.
