If Hezbollah terror chief Sheikh Hasan Nasrallah is to be believed, last Thursday’s rocket attack on Israel from Syrian territory was more extensive than Jerusalem has admitted. It is also “a new phase in the Syrian war against Israel.” In a televised speech on Monday, Nasrallah described Thursday’s rocket barrage as consisting of 55 missiles fired and 20 intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile missile system. The weapons were fired toward the Israel Golan Heights. The qualitative leap was not a function of the number of missiles fired, but was rather typified by the direct involvement of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard: an act that places the Israelis and Iranians face-to-face rather than behind terror proxies as has been the standard until now. Lest there be any speculation regarding the Israeli retaliation, the Russians released the stats: 28 jet fighters launched 70 missiles wreaking havoc on key Iranian and Syrian defensive installations.
