On World Press Freedom Day The Media Line Launched a Fake/Real News Story Contest To Keep Journalism Ethical

The Media Line, the acclaimed American news agency covering the Middle East, in defense of journalism is launching a contest that encourages the public and press alike to send in real news tips and fake news tips – print, audio, video or online to themedialine.org.

There will be a weekly winner of a story who will receive a $25 Amazon gift certificate and whose name will appear on themedialine.org

The Media Line (TML) is one of the first American non-profit news agencies created to address the need for complete, contextual and nuanced reporting from the Middle East, providing first-source stories relied upon by its diverse global media partners. Its seasoned journalists cover daily events in the region, from the streets of Ramallah, Sana’a, Jerusalem, Islamabad, and many others, ensuring that all narratives are included. Known for its commitment to objective reporting that is doubly sourced, TML’s revamped site features a clear separation between traditional journalism and popular voices.

“On World Press Freedom Day, it is appropriate to announce this campaign which will help highlight the journalist stories and point out the fake news one too. As journalists throughout the world and in particular the Middle East fight for press freedom, The Media Line continues to dedicate itself to training our future journalists protecting journalism,” said Felice Friedson, President and CEO of The Media Line. “I would love to see people participating from all over the world and in particular from the Middle East streets.”
