Palestinian medical sources told the Ma’an News Agency that Israeli troops shot and wounded a Palestinian farmer in northern Gaza. An Israeli army spokeswoman said two Palestinians approached the security fence in the area, and Israel fired warning shots first in the air and then at the legs. She did not know if anybody was hit. Tensions have run high in the area since a cease-fire ended seven weeks of fighting a month ago. Israel has imposed a security buffer zone around Gaza and warned Palestinians that anyone entering the zone would be fired on.
