Almost half of America (46%) blames Israel and the Hizbullah equally for the current hostilities in the Middle East, according to a newly released ABC News/Washington Post poll; 39% say Hizbullah alone is responsible. Americans were also divided on the question of Israel’s justification for its military operations. Forty-eight percent oppose the Israeli bombing campaign while 46% say it’s justified. Israel received the support of 55% of those polled when asked whether it should continue to press on until Hizbullah disarms. But 54% feel Israel should do more to avoid civilian casualties.
