After telling Israeli music journalists that dialogue and sharing culture were the best ways to overcome conflict, British rock star Elvis Costello announced he was backing out of two planned concerts in Israel because of the treatment of Palestinians. Costello issued a statement saying he couldn’t imagine ever being invited again to perform in Israel. From the angry reaction in Israel’s media it seems there’s little chance of that ever happening.
