Rocket Attack in Golan Heights Kills 2 Israelis; Hezbollah Claims Retaliation

A deadly rocket attack in the Golan Heights claimed the lives of two Israeli civilians on Tuesday evening, intensifying ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. The attack, which involved approximately 40 rockets, occurred shortly after a Hezbollah operative was killed in a strike on the Beirut-Damascus highway in Syria, attributed to Israel.

The victims, a man and a woman, were fatally struck while driving near Nafah Junction on Route 91. This incident has increased the civilian death toll in Israel to 12 over several months of conflict with Hezbollah.

Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the rocket barrage, stating it was targeting the nearby IDF’s Nafah base in retaliation for the death of its operative, Yasser Qarnabash. Qarnabash, previously reported as a bodyguard to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, was allegedly involved in transporting weapons for the group.

The attack has heightened fears of further escalation along the Israel-Lebanon border, where skirmishes have been a near-daily occurrence since October of the previous year. The conflict has also seen significant casualties among Hezbollah operatives and affiliated groups, with hundreds reported killed or wounded.
