A Foreign Ministry official has called French President Nicolas Sarkozy “shameless and irresponsible” for telling Prime Minister Netanyahu to fire Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and replace him with opposition leader Tzipi Livni. Sarkozy’s comments were made while Netanyahu was visiting in Paris last week. A spokesman for Lieberman called on “every political institution” regardless of its political beliefs to condemn the France’s “blatant intervention” in domestic affairs. Sarkozy reportedly compared Lieberman to France’s radical right-wing politician Jean-Marie Le Pen, a comparison that Netanyahu reportedly rejected.
