Terrorists Raid Jerusalem Synagogue; 4 Killed

Palestinian terrorists who entered a Jerusalem synagogue early Tuesday morning armed with guns and axes killed four worshipers and wounded nine others – four seriously — before being shot dead by armed citizens and police who arrived on the scene. The incident took place in the Har Nof neighborhood of the capital. The attack is the latest in a series of deadly assaults that have many believing the Palestinians have launched a third “Intifada,” or uprising. In two recent events, drivers plowed their vehicles into crowds of pedestrians leaving Jerusalem’s light rail system; and two others were killed after being stabbed in the streets. Palestinian sources say Tuesday’s attack is a reprisal for the death of a Palestinian bus driver working for the Israeli Egged cooperative who was found hanged earlier in the week. The official autopsy results label the death a suicide, but the Palestinian street insists 32-year old Yousef Al-Ramouni was murdered by Jews. Hamas released a video promising revenge for the death of Al-Ramouni and calling for more attacks in Jerusalem. In a statement, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu placed the blame for increasing violence on Hamas and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. He accused the international community of “irresponsibly ignoring” incitement. Abbas issued a statement condemning the attack and demanding an “end to the invasions of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the provocations of settlers and the incitement by some ministers in the Israeli government.”
