Seemingly undeterred by American attacks, the Islamic State (ISIS) on Monday sent thousands of Kurdish residents of Kobani fleeing into neighboring Turkey as it rolled into town following weeks of fighting. Reports from the scene say the assault was begun with a "wave of suicide bombings." Kobani had been surrounded on three sides by ISIS forces that appeared to stay their course despite aerial attacks from the US and other nations forming the American-led coalition. An estimated 180,000 residents of the Kobani area have already fled into Turkey.
