Hizbullah Chief Supports New Hamas Leadership

Hizbullah leader Sheikh Hasan Na’srallah has openly declared support for the new leadership of the Hamas terror movement in the aftermath of Ahmad Yasin’s death. Na’srallah said his movement permits Hamas to use Hizbullah’s services and capabilities, according to the Hamas website.

Speaking in Beirut on Saturday, Na’srallah said the resistance has a strategic long-term plan and that killing off leaders of the resistance will not uproot the resistance itself. The Yasin assassination, he said, proves that Israel is “barbarous, hostile and cancerous,” and reveals the truth of the “Satanic American administration” which he claims is a partner to killing, terror and crime.

Israeli officials have implied that Na’srallah too is on the list of potential targets in his capacity as head of a terror movement.

Hizbullah was also involved in the planning of the bombing at Ashdod Port two weeks ago in which ten Israelis were killed and many others injured. The attack was carried out by two Palestinians, one from Hamas and the other from the Fatah affiliated Al-Aq’sa Martyrs Brigades, but Hizbullah apparently helped finance the attack, according to the Israeli daily Haaretz, and was also involved in choosing the site, which is a strategic target.
