Iranian Foreign Minister Dismisses Drone Incident as Minor, Denies Israeli Involvement

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian revealed on Friday that an overnight drone incident within Iran’s borders involved drones that were “more like toys,” dismissing their military significance and denying any proven link to Israel. This statement was made during an interview with NBC News following reports of explosions in Isfahan, which Iranian officials attributed to air defenses engaging three drones.

Amirabdollahian emphasized that these were not sophisticated drones and that the media reports suggesting a connection to Israel were not substantiated by Iran’s investigations. The incident, described as an infiltration rather than an attack orchestrated by Israel, has led Tehran to caution against hasty conclusions without thorough investigation.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also warned of a robust response if future provocations are traced back to Israel, stating that any retaliation by Iran would be decisive. Meanwhile, a Western diplomat suggested that Israel was behind the strike, arguing that it highlighted vulnerabilities in Iran’s air defense capabilities. The diplomat hinted that Iran might be downplaying the event to avoid escalating tensions, given Israel’s apparent technological edge.
