Train Accident Near Cairo Kills 11, Injures 100

At least 11 people were killed and nearly 100 injured when a train derailed north of Cairo, Egypt. Four cars of the train heading from Cairo to Mansoura derailed on Sunday afternoon. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Most of the injuries were minor or moderate, CNN reported. Some 50 ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the accident, near the city of Toukh in Egypt’s Qalioubia province, in order to take the injured to hospitals.

It is the third major train accident in Egypt in a month. Up to 32 people were killed and nearly 200 injured last month when two trains collided near Tahta. Another 15 people were injured earlier this month when two train cars derailed near Minya al-Qamh city.
