Peace Talk with Senior PLO Official Hanan Ashrawi (AUDIO INTERVIEW – PART 1)
Dr. Hanan Ashrawi is one of the best-known Palestinian officials worldwide. A member of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s Executive Committee, she served as an official spokesperson for the Palestinian delegation to the Middle East peace process beginning in 1991.
In December 1992, about nine months before the first Palestinian-Israeli peace accords were signed on the White House lawn, Ashrawi met with then-president George H. W. Bush in the Oval Office.
Now, 26 years later, she can’t even enter the country.
In a recent Washington Post article, Ashrawi contended that: “[U.S. President Donald] Trump’s administration does not have the tolerance or capacity to engage in fact-based dialogue. It combats meaningful discussion because it has no interest in respectful negotiations and sees no value in international engagement.”
The Media Line spoke with Ashrawi about growing anger in the Palestinian Authority over President Trump’s “deal of the century.”
