‘Trump Just Closed the Door on Negotiations’ (AUDIO INTERVIEW)
The United States has imposed personal sanctions against Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran’s foreign minister.
Beyond sanctions aimed at the Iranian government and economy, as well as those of other countries, Washington often targets individuals it feels cause damage to the US. But in Zarif’s case, it seems to be mainly that he is the “face of Iran,” someone who, as Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin put it in announcing the sanctions, “implements the reckless agenda of Iran’s Supreme Leader and is the regime’s primary spokesperson around the world.”
For another viewpoint on the matter, The Media Line spoke to Nagar Mortazavi, an Iranian-American journalist and commentator who is a Washington-based consulting editor for the British newspaper, The Independent.
