6 Detained After Settlers Assault Israeli Forces in West Bank
A group of Israeli settlers attacked soldiers from the Israel Defense Forces on Friday near the West Bank village of Kafr Malik, according to the military. The settlers threw stones, damaged army vehicles, and attempted to run over troops with their cars.
The confrontation began when soldiers spotted settlers driving toward Kafr Malik, which the military had recently declared a closed zone after settlers attacked the village last week. During that earlier incident, settlers allegedly set homes and vehicles on fire. Palestinian officials said the attack killed three people.
When IDF forces arrived to disperse the group, dozens of settlers physically and verbally assaulted the soldiers, including the battalion commander. They also smashed windows and vandalized security vehicles. The military said several settlers tried to ram soldiers with their cars.

Truth and understanding
The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

Soldiers responded by firing three warning shots into the air but refrained from using live fire. They deployed riot dispersal methods to push the settlers back.
Troops detained six suspects at the scene and transferred them to Israeli police for investigation.
“The IDF and Israel Police condemn any act of violence against security forces and will act firmly against any attempt to harm security personnel carrying out their duty to protect Israeli citizens,” the military said in a statement.
Tensions have continued to rise in the West Bank as authorities struggle to contain settler attacks and prevent further clashes with Palestinians.
