Argentinian President Milei Pledges To Move Embassy to Jerusalem During Israel Visit

Argentinian President Javier Milei, who took office in December, reaffirmed his commitment to relocate Argentina’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem during his first international visit to the country on Tuesday.

Milei was welcomed by Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz at Ben Gurion Airport, who told him while speaking through a translator, “You are a person of values who is committed only to the truth” and that “it is no wonder that you chose to come to Israel right away to support us in the just struggle for the defense of the Jewish people against the murderers of Hamas.” Katz also praised Milei for his principled stance and immediate visit to support Israel.

During his three-day stay, Milei, accompanied by Argentina’s Foreign Minister Diana Mondino and his personal Rabbi Shimon Axel Wahnish—expected to be appointed Argentina’s ambassador to Israel—will meet with top Israeli officials, including President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. His visit also includes stops at the Western Wall and engagements in Italy with Pope Francis and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni later this week.
