Following Settler Attacks, Israeli Forces Raid Jenin, Kill 6 Palestinians

Israeli security forces launched a counter-terrorism operation in the West Bank city of Jenin on Tuesday, killing at least six Palestinians and wounding 35 others, according to Palestinian health officials. The military confirmed the operation, stating it involved soldiers, police, and intelligence services, but provided no further details.

The raid comes amid heightened tensions in the region, days after the start of a ceasefire in Gaza. Jenin and its adjacent refugee camp, known as hubs for armed groups, have seen ongoing clashes over recent years. Palestinian security forces had been conducting their own weekslong operation in the area to reassert control before the Israeli raid began.

Last week, an Israeli airstrike in the Jenin refugee camp killed three Palestinians and injured dozens, further exacerbating unrest. The latest incursion comes at a time of continued volatility in the West Bank, even as efforts to stabilize Gaza are underway.

The raid follows a surge in settler violence late Monday, when Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians in the West Bank village of al-Funduq, smashing cars and setting property ablaze. The incident occurred after US President Donald Trump lifted sanctions on violent settlers, reversing a policy implemented by his predecessor. The military said it is investigating the attack, which involved dozens of settlers, some of whom were masked.
