Freed Hostage Edan Alexander Speaks With Trump From Tel Aviv Hospital
Edan Alexander, a 21-year-old American-Israeli soldier freed on Monday after nearly 600 days in Hamas captivity, spoke with US President Donald Trump today following his return to Israel. The call was arranged by Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East, and took place at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, where Alexander is undergoing evaluation.
Witkoff, who visited Alexander at the hospital, praised the young soldier’s resilience and thanked Trump for his role in securing his release. “I was honored to meet Edan Alexander today and welcome him home. After months in captivity, the world is inspired by his courage and resilience. His return gives hope to so many,” Witkoff posted on X. “We also had the opportunity to speak with [President Trump], whose leadership made this possible. We remain committed to bringing every last hostage home.”

Truth and understanding
The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

Speaking to reporters later at Hostages Square in Tel Aviv, Witkoff added, “Thank God for President Trump. And, by the way, the prime minister [Netanyahu] did an exceptional job here, as did the Qatari PM.”
Alexander’s release was brokered with the involvement of Qatari officials. Israel was reportedly not directly involved in the final negotiations.
Despite initial speculation, Alexander will not travel to Qatar to meet Trump in person, according to his family and the Hostage and Missing Families Forum. Medical needs will keep him hospitalized for at least several more days.
