Hamas Says Leader Ismail Haniyeh Killed in Tehran Strike
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his residence in Tehran on Wednesday, according to statements from both the Palestinian group Hamas and Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards. The incident occurred just a day after Haniyeh attended the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s new president, Masoud Pezeshkian.
“The residence of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran was struck early this morning, resulting in his and one of his bodyguards’ martyrdom. The cause is under investigation and will be announced soon,” stated the Revolutionary Guards.

They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

Hamas has officially declared Ismail Haniyeh a martyr, noting his death as a result of “a treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran.” Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas official, told Reuters that the assassination marks a grave escalation that will not achieve its goals. “Hamas as a movement is strong enough to outlast the deaths of any of its leaders. We are waging an open war to liberate Jerusalem and are ready to pay any price,” Abu Zuhri declared in a statement on the Hamas-linked Shehab news site.
Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard is currently investigating the attack and did not specify how it occurred. An Israeli military spokesman has not immediately responded to requests for comment.
Haniyeh was killed after attending the swearing-in ceremony alongside other Hamas officials and representatives from Hezbollah and allied groups. In a statement, Hamas emphasized the sacrifices made for the Palestinian cause: “Brother leader Ismail Ismail Haniyeh has been martyred,” Hamas announced, quoting Haniyeh from another statement where he expressed readiness for martyrdom for Palestine and the dignity of the nation.
