Hamas Claims Responsibility for Tel Aviv Suicide Bombing

The Hamas terror group, in collaboration with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, orchestrated a deadly suicide bombing in Tel Aviv on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of the bomber and moderate injuries to a nearby civilian. Hamas claimed responsibility for Monday, warning that such suicide bombings would persist in response to Israeli actions.

The explosion occurred on Lehi Road in the southern part of Tel Aviv, with the assailant carrying the explosive device in his backpack. Initially, authorities explored the possibility of criminal involvement. However, a joint statement by the Shin Bet security agency and police later confirmed the act as a terrorist attack, indicating the detonation of a “powerful explosive device.”

The bomber, a man in his 50s from the Nablus area in the West Bank, as reported by Hebrew media, died instantly when the bomb exploded. The blast moderately wounded a passerby riding an electric scooter, who described the scene as resembling a movie with a “giant explosion” that felt surreal.

The aftermath of the bombing saw heightened security measures in Tel Aviv, with increased patrols and checks in crowded areas to prevent further incidents. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant as they continue investigating the full scope and intended targets of this planned attack.
