Hamas Releases New Video of 2 Israeli Hostages

Hamas released a three-minute-long, edited video on Saturday showcasing two Israeli hostages, Keith Siegel, 64, and Omri Miran, 47—who have been held in the Gaza Strip since the Oct. 7 assault on southern Israel—appealing for their release. This is the second video released by the terror group in the past several days.

Siegel, a dual US citizen, was initially taken along with his wife, Aviva, although she was released during a temporary truce in November. In the video, Siegel is visibly distressed as he tells his family that he loves them, speaking of last year’s Passover spent with his family and expressing his hope for their reunion.

He says: “We’re in danger here. There are bombings, and it’s stressful and scary, and it’s been going on for a very long time. I wonder and think to myself when it’ll end. Sometimes it feels like things are dragging on.”

In his segment, Miran discusses the absence of holiday celebrations with his family due to the ongoing war, adding, “The situation isn’t pleasant. It’s tough, and there are a lot of bombings.”

“I’ve been in Hamas captivity for 202 days already,” he continues. “It’s time to reach a deal that will get us out of here alive, whole, and in good health. I want you to do everything you can, put pressure in every possible way, and continue to demonstrate so that negotiations and a deal can be reached now.”

The exact timing and location of the video remain unclear, although Miran’s mention of “202 days” suggests it was filmed recently, as today marks the 205th day of the war. The release of the video has been condemned by Israel, which labels these acts as psychological terrorism.

In response to the video, the Hostages Families Forum Headquarters issued a statement demanding swift action from the Israeli government to secure a deal for the hostages’ return by Independence Day on May 14, adding, “Now is the time for the government and its leader to prove through actions their commitment to the citizens of Israel who await the return of the hostages. The Israeli government must not miss this opportunity to bring them all home!”

Siegel’s family also conveyed their emotions and determination in a video released by the Forum. “Keith, I love you. We will fight until you return,” Keith’s wife, Aviva, stated.

Their daughter, Ilan, added, “Seeing my father today only emphasizes to all of us how much we must reach a deal as soon as possible and bring everyone home. I demand that the leaders of this country watch this video and see our father crying out for help.”

Miran’s father also reacted to the video, saying, “This is the first sign of life from him; I’m tearing up with emotion. I saw a picture of how I thought he’d be: with a beard. It’s very painful. He looks great physically, I only hope his mental condition is still sound.”
