Amid the worsening violence, senior US officials and Israeli representatives are set to meet later on Thursday to discuss the possibility of a cease-fire both in Lebanon, where Israel has intensified operations against Hezbollah and in Gaza, where Israeli forces are engaged with Hamas.
Israel has also issued an evacuation warning for the second consecutive day to residents of Baalbek, a historic town in eastern Lebanon. In response, residents were seen evacuating the area, and columns of smoke from previous strikes were visible around the town of Douris, where Israeli forces destroyed Hezbollah fuel stocks, according to the Israeli military and Lebanese sources.
