IDF Claims Evidence Links Al Jazeera Journalist to Hamas Military Activities
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) alleged on Monday that a journalist for the news network Al Jazeera is simultaneously serving as a commander within Hamas’ military wing, supporting the claim with images and documents found in the Gaza Strip.
According to the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee, the individual in question, Mohamed Washah, operates as a journalist by day and engages in terrorist activities by night. Washah, 37, hails from the Bureij neighborhood in central Gaza and has been featured in Al Jazeera’s broadcasts, described by the network as one of their journalists.

Truth and understanding
The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

The discovery came when IDF troops seized a laptop in a Hamas base in northern Gaza. Further investigations into the laptop content showed Washah’s significant involvement in Hamas’ anti-tank missile unit and his recent contributions to the group’s air unit’s research and development sector. Photos extracted from the device depict Washah in military training, handling anti-tank weaponry, various other arms, and a drone.
This revelation comes in the wake of accusations by the IDF against two Al Jazeera journalists killed in an Israeli airstrike, labeling them as members of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The IDF has consistently denied intentionally targeting journalists, claiming it maintains efforts to minimize civilian harm amid accusations of high civilian casualties.
