In The Works: Hamas Declares Terms for Hostage Exchange and Cease-fire with Israel

Hamas, the group designated as a terrorist organization by many countries, including the United States and the European Union, has detailed the preliminary terms of a hostage release agreement.

The agreement involves a five-day cease-fire and the exchange of 50 non-military captives and foreign nationals for 300 child and female prisoners held by Israeli authorities.

Additionally, the deal necessitates a significant reduction in Israeli flights over Gaza, limiting them to six hours daily in the northern areas, while completely suspending them elsewhere.

As part of the agreement, 300 trucks loaded with food, medical supplies, and fuel will be permitted entry into all regions of the Gaza Strip. Hamas also outlined its phased release of the Israeli hostages, with ten people being freed each day.

Israel, the US, and Qatar, which mediates with Hamas, have been negotiating for weeks over this hostage release to be paired with a temporary cease-fire in Gaza and the entry of more humanitarian aid.
