Iran’s top military brass voiced the country’s readiness to strengthen Syria’s defense sector. Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported that The Iranian Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Mohammad Reza Ashtiani met with the Syrian Army’s Chief of the General Staff Maj. Gen. Abdul Karim Mahmoud Ibrahim, in Tehran on Wednesday afternoon.
Ashtiani expressed Iran’s readiness to use its capacities and capabilities to reconstruct and develop the Syrian defense industry’s infrastructure.

He said the bilateral ties are high due to a strategic and brotherly alliance between the two states. “The relations between the two countries are witnessing one of their best historical times.”
He voiced his happiness with the Syrian re-rapprochement with the regional countries, describing the development as “a victory for Syria’s resistance which comes despite all US and Western countries’ efforts to isolate Damascus.”
The Syrian official said Syria and Iran had enjoyed friendly ties and cooperation in line with their national interests for 40 years, assuring their bilateral collaborations will continue., stating, “Syria will never forget the assistance and cooperation of its true friends.”
