Iran’s Largest Attack on Israel Concludes, US and Israel Promise Severe Response
Early Wednesday, Iran declared the end of its largest-ever missile strike on Israel following an intense assault involving over 180 ballistic missiles. Tehran described the attack as defensive, in retaliation for Israel’s recent killings of terrorist leaders in Lebanon and Gaza. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that Iran’s actions were concluded unless further provoked, warning that any Israeli response would trigger even stronger retaliation.
The Israeli military, supported by the US, intercepted most of the missiles, with Israel’s air defenses and US Navy warships playing a key role. However, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed 90% of their missiles hit their targets. The attack, which used hypersonic Fattah missiles for the first time, marks a severe escalation in the conflict.

In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that Iran “made a big mistake” and would pay for it. The US echoed these sentiments, with Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin promising to ensure that Iran faced “severe consequences.”
Meanwhile, Israel continued its airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, with fresh evacuations ordered in Beirut’s southern suburbs amid heavy bombardment.
