Israeli DM Benny Gantz Meets With US VP Kamala Harris
Israel’s Defense Minister Benny Gantz met with US Vice President Kamala Harris on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. The meeting on Saturday centered on Iran’s nuclear ability and its threats to the region, Gantz said in a series of tweets.
“We also discussed the importance of expanding the Abraham Accords, the situation in Ukraine, and the importance of confidence-building measures with the Palestinians. I updated the VP steps I plan to take in order to deepen cooperation with our neighbors in the region,” Gantz tweeted.
“I expressed my gratitude to U.S. President Biden and the VP for their commitment to preventing a nuclear Iran. I told her that any future agreement must include consistent enforcement by the IAEA in addition to handling the open files in the nuclear program. I also thanked her for the United States’ important role in maintaining stability in the Middle East, in the face of regional aggression perpetrated by Iran and its proxies,” he also tweeted.
Gantz also met on Saturday with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock during the conference, as well as Greece’s prime minister and defense minister; Finland’s defense minister; Georgia’s prime minister, foreign minister and defense minister; the president of the World Economic Forum; and the Bahraini undersecretary for foreign affairs.
