Israeli Military Intensifies Operations in Gaza, Thousands Flee Amid Renewed Bombardment
The Israeli military escalated its operations in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, launching heavy bombardments in the southern regions and the densely populated neighborhoods of Gaza City. The strikes have led to a significant displacement of civilians, with thousands fleeing their homes in the dark, amid what is being termed a final push in Israel’s intense military campaign against Hamas, now in its ninth month.
Early Tuesday, Israeli tanks and aircraft targeted several areas in the southern Gaza Strip, including Khan Yunis and its eastern neighborhoods. The bombardment resulted in the deaths of eight Palestinians and left dozens injured, according to health officials in Gaza. The Israeli military confirmed the loss of two soldiers in combat a day earlier.

In a particularly devastating attack, Israeli tank fire killed 17 Palestinians in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City. Social media footage showed the aftermath in a local market, with debris and blood marking the scene.
The Israeli army has reiterated that its strikes in Khan Yunis were aimed at terrorist targets, including weapon storage facilities and operational centers, from which around 20 rockets were reportedly fired on Monday. The military emphasized that evacuation orders were issued to minimize civilian casualties, accusing Hamas of using civilian infrastructure as cover for its military activities.
